Bonnie's Artist Statement

Bonnie’s Artist Statement

I have truly been painting and all my life. When I was a young teenager I painted houses, docks and even a barn rooftop. At the age of nineteen I went to New York City and I became a make-up artist specialist, mixing and blending all my colors. Over time, I painted many interiors, furniture, and even curtains!

I wanted to paint on my wheel thrown ceramic pottery so I took a class at my local museum. As soon as I started mixing color, I knew I was in love. I had no knowledge of the art world. I knew nothing about real painting…like an artist, on canvas! I did not know how to mix or buy brushes. I was a real newbie, and I became obsessed. I painted late at night, early in the morning with coffee and pj’s. My home turned into a studio everywhere. To do this day, I literally sleep with my art! My husband does not mind.

When I discovered the “art world” I decided to use my art for purpose… sharing research furthering human happiness, especially for marriage. This was very heartfelt and changed my life.

As the painter I find the process to be like an intellectual experiment that includes a really cool toolbox. The brushes are so beautiful, and the colors are limitless.

To me, I feel like a painting tells a story and shares a conversation between the artist, the artwork, and the viewer. Paintings actually make great companions! Paintings help calm, excite, and inspire. Science has proven that abstracts are helpful intellectually to grow a babies attention span and grow brain cells. Art lends so much to us. It is everywhere.

I learned an artist has to be brave. It is not easy to come out and show your work, and it takes a lot of courage to ruin hours of work to create abstract layers in the reduction process. It is when taking that chance that a masterpiece may follow, and as an artist you know how powerful that energy was to make that hard choice.

I like my paintings to tell a story. I usually insert something into my abstracts to offer something to find or think about. I hope to evoke positivity for the viewer and awaken wonderful spirit.

I sell my paintings for a purpose. I hope to promote awareness to “self” furthering personal happiness and contentment. And at this time 2023, we are focused on our marriages.

Thank you for your purchase. Love you too.
