About The Art: Pottery

I studied and learned my pottery skills at the Vero Beach Museum of Art and participated in classes for many years. Many of my bowls can be found around the Cities where I live, Sebastian and Vero Beach Florida, through my contribution for the Good Samaritan soup bowl events. I learned all the basics and much more because the instructors were amazing. Walford Campbell was a blessing to me, teaching me patiently with great enthusiasm and expert knowledge. I was fortunate to enjoy the teaching of George Paxton’s live model clay sculpturing, a highly accomplished sculpture artist in a small intimate class environment at the Vero Beach Museum of Art.

I always use high quality clay and porcelain and create my pieces with great care. My pottery feels like an extension of me because the process even though labor intensive, requires timely attention, and delicate handling. From beginning to end the piece remains in creative stage.

After the experience of an auto wreck, in January of 2018, I sustained seven screws and a metal plate in my wrist. I refused to be challenged by the injuries and decided I was going to go from three pound bowls to ten pound bowls. That wasn’t enough for me, so I continued making thirty pound ceramic sculptures including a ten pounder bowl on top. I designed my “Wedding Bowls.”

I started to do abstract painting on my pottery so I decided to take painting classes. Professional artist and instructor Vicki Marssango taught me a wealth of information in very short time. I love painting, and will share my work intentionally through the arts. My dream is to help to make a difference in lives of others, and to use my art for awareness. I spent years on research, and have self published books.

I will share more about the Wedding Bowls, and couple sculptures in the future. I have my own pottery wheel and kiln with lots of clay and porcelain waiting for creation.
